Nursery

We love to minister to the youngest members of Willowbrook Church; starting from 6 week old infants in our Babysteps Nursery to our 2 year old class, Tailspin!

Check-in Procedures

  • Check-in for our nursery department happens at our welcome center, which is on the right, when you walk in the front doors of Willowbrook Church.
  • You will receive a sticker with you and your child’s name and a random number on it.
  • When service is complete, please bring the sticker back to the nursery, and you will turn it in to receive your child.

*The number is also important because this is how we locate you if we need to reach you during service.  If there is a need regarding your child while a service is going on, we will inform the media staff and they will put your child’s number on the screen.  If you see your child’s number, please come to the appropriate class to check on your child.

*Please pre-label your child’s bag and belongings before you bring your child to the nursery.  Also, notify the nursery attendants upon check-in if there is a special need or concern regarding your child.

We also provide a “cry” room for parents that prefer to stay with their children during service.  You can ask an usher for directions to the room or stop by the welcome center, and we will be happy to assist you.  If you are a nursing mom and need space, there is a couch in the ladies bathroom just for you.

Well/Sick Policies

We provide Well-Child care. For this reason, we ask that a child not be left in any class who appears to be ill. If a child is found to be ill while in our care, we will notify the parent immediately so the parent may pick-up the child. We ask that you please consider the other children, families, and nursery workers and not bring your child to class if he/she has any of the following symptoms and/or illnesses.

1. Discolored (not clear) nasal discharge.

2. A fever (above 100 degrees) within the last 24 hours.

3. Unusual lethargy, irritability, persistent crying, difficulty breathing, or other signs of possible severe illness.

4. Strep throat, until 24 hours after treatment has begun.

5. Diarrhea (not contained by diapers, for infants.)

6. Vomiting two or more times in the previous 24 hour period, unless determined by a physician that it’s due to a non-communicable condition.

7. Pink-eye with yellow or white discharge, often with matted eyelids

after sleep. Redness of the eyelids or skin surrounding the eye, until 36 hours after treatment has begun.

8. Chicken-Pox until all lesions have dried and crusted.

9. Mumps, until nine days after parotid gland swelling.

10. Scabies, until after treatment has been completed.

11. Any open sore until 24 hours after treatment has been initiated.

12. If a child is found with head lice, treatment with a medicated anti-lice product must be used on a child AND 36 hours must pass before

a child that has been found with lice can return to class. Please note: if a child is found with lice during a church service, they will be removed from our nursery immediately to keep from affecting others.

13. If a child is being treated with antibiotics, he/she should be on the medication for 24 hours before attending class.

14. NO MEDICATION will be given to a child by anyone other than the parent of the child.

Nursery Worker and Volunteer Information

First of all, we want to say thank you to all of the parents who volunteer; we appreciate your faithfulness to this ministry!

If you are a member of the church and are working as a volunteer, we want you to know that we know, understand, and appreciate your desire to be in church. It is so important that we each have time to attend church and get fed spiritually. It is also important to have fellowship with other believers. We want you to know that we will work to help make both our Babysteps and Tailspin rooms to run as smoothly as it possibly can so that you can enjoy church services when you are not volunteering in the nursery.

At Willowbrook Church, we value our kids!  Because of the value we place on our families, we ensure the safety of our kids by requiring a background check of all hired and volunteer workers. We will also ensure that our children have adequate opportunities to hear music and conversations, see videos, books, and sing songs that will lift up the name of Jesus during each nursery experience.

We also want you to know that we pray regularly for our all of our nursery staff and for all of the children and parents that are a part of our nursery at Willowbrook Church.

If you are scheduled to work in the nursery and you cannot do it when scheduled, please let the Nursery Director, Brandy Hussey, know as soon as you can.
