Pastor Steve
Dear Willowbrook Friends and Family |
Whether it’s the news about the economy or the uncertain mood of our nation it seems everywhere we turn we hear people telling us to ‘hunker down’ and ‘hold steady’ or ‘wait it out’ until the economy turns around, the weather gets better, the time is right, or well, you get the picture.
But they are wrong! Now is the best time for Willowbrook to reach new people. Now is the best time for us to be aggressive about evangelism. Now is the best time to challenge ourselves and seize the opportunity to impact northwest Houston like never before. It is time for us to step up and I’ll tell you why.
People are most likely to attend church and turn to God when they are under tension, when they are in transition, or when they are in trouble. And right now there’s a ton of each going around. Everywhere you turn there’s trouble, transition and tension, and (between you and me) that excites me, because right now people are more open to God than they’ve ever been in my lifetime.
So, let me ask: What are you willing to do to give Willowbrook Church the best opportunity to capitalize on the tension, trouble and transition that we are facing? Now is the time for action. Now is the time to accept new challenges, to break out of the confining box of doing what we’ve always done and to invest our time and resources in the handful of opportunities that can significantly impact our community and expand the Kingdom.
We, as a church, have accepted the challenge to be a place where life-change happens and we are facing that challenge head-on. Four months ago we embarked on a journey of faith unlike any we have ever undertaken. We purchased 12 acres on Highway 249 between Spring Cypress and Northpoint Boulevard, the cost, $2.5 million. Our goal is to relocate within the next 3 to 5 years.
Are you ready to be part of something that will have an eternal impact? Will you step up to the call that God has placed on your life and on Willowbrook Church? Will you personally invest your time, talent and God-given resources to reach our community?
For those who have pledged and given to our Greater Things Vision Campaign I want to express my appreciation for your faithfulness in giving. If not, I encourage you to join us in this step of faith. This is an exciting time in our history and our greatest days are yet to be seen. Thank you for your prayers and for joining with me in fulfilling our vision to be a place where life change happens!
Expecting Greater Things,
Pastor Steve Owens
